You want to make your community as easy for people to find as possible, so making sure you show up in our search results is a must. Simply looking at community or board names and descriptions isn't always enough though, if you have a community about The Beatles for example, you probably want to come up when somebody searches for Paul McCartney or even just for music, but you're not necessarily using either of these phrases within your description.

That's where tags come in, tags allow you to attach as many other keywords and phrases as you want to your community or board to make them easier to find. Adding them is simple, you just type them all into the tags field on the community or board edit page, seperating each one with a comma. So in the case of our Beatles community, you may have something like this...

Paul McCartney, John Lennon, Ringo Starr, George Harrison, Music, Pop, 1960s

Then whenever somebody searches for any of those phrases, your community will come up.

In the future, any user will be able to add tags to your community and boards, because many users will describe them in different ways and this is a sure fire way to make sure each community is tagged up with the most appropriate keywords. Ultimately, this will also be extended to topics and even posts themselves.
