Privacy Policy

We HATE spam. We get it all the time, and there's nothing worse. That's why we won't send you any email you haven't asked for (and everything is opt-IN, not opt-out), and we certainly will not sell (or even give away for free) your personal details to anybody else. We may however use non-identifiable information for advertising demographics, like telling companies we have 1000 registered users under the age of 21 for instance, but we won't actually reveal who those 1000 people are. We won't even publicly display your email address on any of our services, so nobody will be able to trawl through the pages harvesting addresses. We do however reserve the right to use or disclose any user information if we believe that user is violating the law, our rights, or the rights of other Chatbear users. We may also have to disclose the information if legally required by a court order, but we will notify you if this happens. We may also transfer the information in our possession in connection with a sale of assets of the company, a sale of the company or a merger.

Terms and Conditions

Like the Privacy Policy, we'll try and keep this brief. "Service" means all systems under the title Chatbear, including but not limited to Chatbear messageboards, mailing lists, blogging services, photo hosting services, IRC channels and alert services. "Owner" means the person who used our system to create the Service. "Content" means any content posted to the Service, including, but not limited to messageboard posts, blog posts, photos, mailing list posts, text posted to an IRC channel, files, binaries or any other computer data.

In basic terms you understand and agree that the Service is provided "AS-IS" and that Square Eight assumes no responsibility for, among other things, (1) any service outages or interruptions (2) the unavailability of a particular Service, (3) the inability to access the Service, (4) the failure or inability to post Content to a Service, (4) the deletion of Content posted to a Service, (5) the failure to store Content posted to a Service or (6) any Content available from the Service.

Considering the real-time nature of the Service, it is impossible for us to review Content or confirm the validity of information posted. Please remember that we do not actively monitor the Content and are not responsible for any Content posted. We do not vouch for or warrant the accuracy, completeness or usefulness of any Content, and are not responsible for the Content. Any text contained in the Content expresses the views of the author of the message, not necessarily the views of Square Eight, the Owner of the Service, or any entity associated with Square Eight. Any user who feels that any Content is objectionable is encouraged to contact us, or the Owner of the Service, immediately by email. In many cases, both Square Eight and the Service Owner have the ability to remove objectionable Content and we will make every effort to do so, within a reasonable time frame, if we determine that removal is necessary. This is a manual process, however, so please realize that we may not be able to remove or edit particular Content immediately, especially if the Service takes such a form that Content cannot be deleted.

You agree, through your use of any Service, that you will not post any material which is knowingly false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, contains software viruses, trojan horses or any other computer code, files or programs designed to interrupt, destroy or limit the functionality of any computer software or hardware or telecommunications equipment, consists of instructional information on illegal activities and/or otherwise violates any law. You agree not to post any copyrighted material unless the copyright is owned by you. If you use any Service to create content of an adult-orientated nature, you agree to use the tools available to mark it as such, or have it face deletion without warning.

Although Square Eight and the Owner does not and cannot review the Content posted and is not responsible for the Content, we reserve the right to delete any Content for any or no reason whatsoever. You remain solely responsible for any Content you send to a Service, and you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Square Eight (the makers of the Service) and the Owner of the Service, and their agents with respect to any claim based upon transmission of your Content.

Please note that advertisements, chain letters, pyramid schemes, and solicitations are inappropriate Content on any Service.
