I've just stumbled across the web site, fascinating to read. I was born and raised in the village 1954-71 and lived in several properties No1, The Pines (next door to Cornish's), Tyler's Green on Headley Road, The Squirrels (a bungalow on the bumpy road at the back of the village green), Bank House (this was my grandmother's hotel), above the cafe (used to be The Dairy) just along from Bank House and in a last house which I can't name - next to the turning to Waggoners Wells is a large double-fronted property, we lived in the left hand one.

It's good to see the village appears to be thriving though looking quite different from my memories.

Hi Paul - I am sure the village archivist (http://www.grayshott-archive.org.uk) would be keen to talk to you about your memories of Grayshott. Would be happy to put you in touch if you are interested?

The bumpy road behind the Green is Church Lane. I live opposite Squirrels in a house called Spurfold, would love to hear if you have any memories, photos etc of our lane (andrew@jmdata.co.uk).

Regards

Andy Whittam

Hello Andy,

I'd be happy to chat with your archivist. He could contact me on here or via e-mail paul.brooking@btinternet.com

Is your house the one directly opposite Squirrels, perhaps slightly to the left if Squirrels is behind you? I seem to remember it has high, very pointed apex to the twin (?) gables at the front. I also have a strange recollection it was owned by a well known family, perhaps an MP, who were connected with a 60s scandal of some sort? We lived in Squirrels in the early 60s, certainly in the winter of 63-64 as I vividly remember the snow coming at the start of the big freeze.

I have a box of family photos going back to before the war. Finding the Grayshott website has stimulated me to dig this out. I'll have a look at what I can find for you.

Sorry. I haven't forgotten this but have been busy decorating for the last few weekends!! ): The photos are in our loft right at the back and will take some getting out. Plan to do this at the weekend.

I'll post the results here and if there is soemthing worthwhile for you we can discuss how to proceed
