I have often wondered if there are people living in Grayshott who have shares in firework companies.

One or two I could cope with, however I feel there has been an excessive amount of loud banger/crow-scarer type things tonight. No fun if you have young children, pets or sensitive car alarms.

Happy New Year everyone.

I tried to respond to yr e-mail yesterday but somehow screwed things up. I agree entirely and would like to see an ordnance banning outside fireworks except for 5 Nov and 31 Jan.

how many times have i read this and not noticed the spelling error :)
Well spotted
Maybe it a birthday or something ?

I would rather see a general law that makes you ASK for permission from the LOCAL council, say 5 months in advance for a night of fun with works and loud music, say a 21st birthday party, or what ever. The council would grant or not grant this.
A board would show when and wheres also on a web site for each local council.
And even a leaflet drop every 3 months letting every body in the area know who and when.
Not to much to ask, we all pay taxes? At least some good can come from some of the monies we pay.

Just a out there somwhere idea, at least we could still let of a few works.

Hi anon@86.152

I was like you when I was a 'lad' :)

Now that I have a few years under me belt, and have seen first hand what happens when fireworks go BANG at STUPID o'clock in the night. It's not all about US, its the animals and small children, mine would sleep through world war 3 so np there. One cat goes awall for 3 days as soon as a sniff of firework powder drifts through the air.
And I also jump at the odd bang now and then.
So think how it is for the 'older' or less 'hard' people out there who want an easy life EXCEPT on 5th november ish. Thats all some people are asking for.. So a few fire works at 7-8pm in the evening would do little harm realy at 10-12pm is not on.(not on or around 5th november or 1st january)

You make it sound like they go off in the village every day. 2-3 times a year. is it really that hard to deal with??

Hi anon@86.152

I must retype my last post using better words I think.
I know that Firewoeks are not set of every day/week BUT when they are set off, when people are NOT expecting them i.e. NOT on the 5th of November or 1st January, and from what i hear of them NOT THAT early i.e. 11pm or later its a bit of a SHOCK.
That is all that is being said. A bit of kindness, let them of at 8pm or earlier.
LET YOUR NEIBOURS know about them ones with pets need a few days notice, to get any meds or a nother person to have the animal/s
Otherwise it will become law and I for one donot want that, I like the idea of being able to let a few fireworks of for me birthday, or a wedding. And not having to wait till the 5th of november.

The Fireworks Regulations 2004 prohibit the use of fireworks at night (11pm – 7am) in England and Wales, with extensions to the curfew for the following festivals:

Until 01:00 on the night of the Chinese New Year

Until 01:00 on the night of Diwali

Until 01:00 on the night on New Years Eve

Until Midnight on 5 November

These regulations are enforced by the police. There is a penalty of up to £5,000 or 6 months in prison for breach of curfew. The supply, purchase or possession of excessively loud fireworks over 120 decibels are also prohibited.
