Does anyone know any more about the attempted abduction of 2 children in Grayshott at the weekend? I was only given very sketchy information by someone, so I don't know how true the report is. Obviously I would like to find out if it is true, and in greater detail if so.

I sent an email to the Whitehill police (Sgt Shore & his team) and they replied confirming this incident.

I have heard vague details about this, mentioning balaclavas and knives etc. Surely if these serious allegations are true, we should have been warned to be on our guard? particularly those with children. I eagerly await further details.

I have not seen swarms of police or forensic teams in action, so it could be interesting. Unless I watch too much television?

Perhaps we should ask Jim Leggett our community Police officer. He is always happy to chat and be of assistance, and I'm sure he will be able to confirm or deny details and let residents know what action they need to take to be safe.
If I see him I'll ask.

Following the posting re: Whitehill's reply to e-mail I did in fact speak with them lat night (Wed) and they would not really confirm or deny the incident. It was quoted to me as being under Data Protection Act that they could not reveal any details. Personally I do not see how this could be compromised in any way by simply confirming an incident and giving outline information - where, when, basic details of what happened - it's not like they were giving out photos, names, etc.

I did say that I was interested because I have children and obviously want to be in a position of knowledge as to what happened so that we can look after them, and help them to look after themselves too. It was suggested that I look out for details in the local press.

I did ask for Jim Leggat to be informed that I was requesting information on the incident and he should now contact me when he is next on duty. Maybe then I can get clearer information as to what happened - and not let lack of knowledge and 'thinking the worst' take hold.

Important Notice

On Sunday 20th January at approximately 1:30 pm in Hill Road, a very new looking Silver Mazda, possibly a 4door Mazda 2, with 2 boys at the front and two girls at the rear, wearing balaclavas and holding knives made a grab for a residents daughter and a friend of hers through the window of the car, when she broke free they tried to grab her friend`s arm, she also broke free.

The girls both heard one of the female occupants say " get those girls".

This has been reported to the Police who have interviewed both the girls and have issued a county-wide notice. If anyone saw these persons and/or their car please contact Sgt.Morgan (collar number is 3424 and he is based at Whitehill) at Hampshire Police Reference RMS 44080027614
