EB got it today (canada) so now i have it. I have been playing for about an hour so far and i must say the game looks good.
v1.2 sometimes crashes on me (like it just did). i was raiding my first base and getting comfortable with the controls when i told my group to open fire on a mutant human thing and the game crashed to windows. aside from the multiple crashes i've had this game looks good BUT it's no X-Com. it's story based so it seems easier than thinking for yourself in the origional X-Com. i do miss building my bases but i think this game might tide me over until aftermath 2 which hopefully will be a complete remake of X-Com UFO Defence. EB, Best Buy, and Futureshop still have no idea what the heck UFO Aftermath is. I would expect this from best buy and futureshop but EB is clueless too.
I have pre-payed at EB in full and I cannot believe there is no info or anything other than some release date in january... so 1 hardcore fan loves Aftermath, any other fans giving the game an A? based on what i have played in the demo and learned form others, the game sounds like it could be in the D to B range. until i play the full game, i dunno.
I really really liked Ufo Defence/Enemy Unknown. Meh is what i said to TFTD. I had a bad experience with Apocalypse, i should have given the game more of a chance but i got upset when: -yellowish/orangish face hugger thing jumped on one of my soldiers face and my AI teammates shot at the alien face hugger...of course my soldier failed to survive the assault as bullets hit him from all directions, the face hugger did however

if Aftermath is a success, they will think Aftermath is a good game and produce a sequel to that. They will think that their Aftermath is a winning combination and this is not the case with me.
Like i said before, X-Com aside this could be a good game. Unfortunately this is not the game I want to play. And yes im sure there are X-Com fans that like this game for whatever reason but i think a strong majority of mid range to hardcore X-Com fans are disappointed. I will most likely get the game from EB and after 10 hours of "playtesting" decide if it's worth it. If i like the full game I will be responding to this forum to let you know. ---------------- I just hope the developers understand and read what i write here: I will pay money for a remake of X-Com, just add the RTS to make the game play faster.
