What's New in Chatbear v2?
 Chatbear v2 is a serious upgrade to the product.
Everything has been overhauled, the boards themselves, the
administration system, the website and documentation - v2 brings together the
most requested feature additions over the last three years into one giant
update. The update is so wide reaching it requires all existing
users to upgrade their boards and rebuild their custom HTML and
style templates (don't worry, you won't lose any posts!). However, we hope
that you find this
minor inconvenience worthwhile in return for what you get...
So what's new?
- Three included HTML layouts,
"v2", "Classic" and "Simple".
- A whole load of built-in style
templates and button colours, with more to come.
- More customisation, with every single
line of HTML now being available for editing. Completely translate
your board into another language if need be as every string is now
customisable too.
- Board Sets, so one user can separate
their boards so they don't all appear on the one Board Listings
page.
- A single authentication system as
Bearkey is now used for everything (no more Masterbear).
- Board groups.
- Sticky topics, hot topics, locked
topics, locked boards, topic labels and topic titles.
- Show who the last post was by, with a
quick link to view it.
- Show the number of views that each
topic has had.
- Goto last unread post links on both
topics and boards.
- Show a arrowed history of a users route through
your forum.
- View a posters IP address and then ban
users by IP address from either posting on or even reading your
board.
- Full sorting options for the Board
Listings page.
- Persistent user options, so even when
you login to another computer your read topics and sorting options
will still be there.
- Show the currently active users on
your boards.
- Much more control over rights,
including individual assignment of each right to a user.
- Choose to receive Bearkey Alerts
whenever a Topic or Board is updated, without having to post on it
first.
- Easier deletion of topics, posts,
moving of topics to other boards and locking of topics.
- Customise the date format for each
place one is displayed.
- Simpler relationship between HTML
blocks makes customisation easier, including the addition of new
blocks and tags being allowed in more places.
- Completely re-written board
administration system is faster to use and easier to use.
