Admin Upgrades
Chatbear v2 is absolutely loaded to the
gills with new features and the entire administration system has
been re-written from scratch to make it even easier to create and
maintain your boards. Here's a sampling of some of the new stuff
you'll find inside...
No More Masterbear
Accounts
We've consolidated our login system so that everything is now
accessed from one place with one set of login credentials (more
info).
Less Pages, Less
Clicks
We've consolidated a lot of the multiple page sections of the old
admin into one page, reduced the number of confirmation pages and
completed pages you have to go through and created a Main Menu that
gives you access to all the important places on one page.
Administration should therefore be faster than ever. Plus -
increased ability to mass add, mass edit and mass remove items. No
more going through items one at a time.
Board Sets
If you're running more than one website and need to keep the boards
for each one separated you no longer need to create a new Masterbear
Account for each one, simply create a Board Set. A Board Set is a
collection of boards that appear together on the Board Listings
page.
Board Groups
Organise your boards better on the Board Listings page by grouping
them into sections. You can even change the order of the sections
and the boards within each section.
More Board Options
and Simpler Style and HTML Templates
Options for a board are now all in one place, instead of some being
attached to the style template and some being attached to the board
itself. And there's more of them too, you can now disable
signatures, choose whether users can edit and delete their own
posts, have locked boards, hidden boards, reply only boards and even
control where images can be used, so you can have them in posts but
not in signatures.
Style Templates are now
simplified to only contain information about fonts and colours, and
HTML Templates are now attached to the board itself instead of
through the style template. There's a selection of Base Style and
HTML templates for you to choose from as well. The interface for
customising HTML has been simplified too, with easier to understand
names and blocks grouped by the page they're used on.
More HTML
Customisation and Exportable Templates
There are now more than 90 blocks that can be customised in v2,
giving you more control than ever before. Every aspect of your board
can be changed, every bit of text, every button, every icon. This
makes it even easier for you if you're planning on converting it all
to another language. Plus, HTML Templates can now be exported to a
file so you can edit them offline, extremely handy for those with
per-minute access charges. Exporting also means you can now share
your HTML Templates with friends - something we actively encourage.
Expanded User Right
Control
No longer are you limited to just moderator and administrator
rights, now you can assign individual rights on a per-user basis.
Give somebody just the ability to delete topics, or only the ability
to change topic options. Choose individually who you want to appear
on the Moderator listing on your board, so you can hide who is
actually doing the moderating. You can even give people the ability
to post on a locked board or topic. Plus...
Non Board Owners Can
Ban Users
An oft requested item, users can now be assigned the right to
ban users from the board. No longer is it just up to the board
owner.
IP Banning
Ban a user from posting on or even reading your boards by their IP
address. And now easily get that IP address by clicking Admin
Options on a post, where you'll also find a quick link to ban a
registered user.
Bulk Moving and
Deleting of Topics Plus Copy Topic Too
More controls for keeping your boards tidy, with bulk moving and
deleting of topics - including the ability to merge boards together.
Plus, individual copying of topics from one board to another allows
you to show users where they're post has gone instead of just a
straight move.
